About the course.
There is a version of your sound that already exists — in the records that shaped you, the instincts you follow without thinking, the choices you keep making without knowing why. This course is about finding it, understanding it, and learning to develop it on purpose.
Over ten weeks, you will dig into your artistic roots, develop your production instincts, and finish a track that reflects who you actually are — not who you are trying to sound like.
The course runs as a small cohort. That is not just a format choice — it is part of how the work gets done. Some of the most useful moments come from other producers hearing things in your music that you have stopped noticing yourself. The group becomes part of the process, and the connections people make tend to last well beyond the ten weeks.
By the end you will have a finished track, a clearer artistic identity, and a production rulebook that keeps working for you long after the course ends.
You make music you are proud of but cannot quite describe what makes it yours
You feel like you are circling your sound but have not landed on it yet
You want to finish work and stand behind it with confidence
You are serious about your development as an artist, whatever your level
This course is for you if…
You are looking for a DAW tutorial or technical fundamentals course
You want a self-paced, pre-recorded programme — this is live and participatory
You are not ready to share work in progress and receive honest feedback
It’s not for you if…
What we cover.
Phase 1 — Identity (weeks 1–2)
We start by understanding where your sound already comes from. Your influences, your instincts, and the patterns in your existing music — much of which you have not consciously noticed yet.
Phase 2 — Expression (weeks 3–7)
We move into the DAW. Groove, motifs, arrangement, tone, energy — developing production skills through the lens of your identity rather than in the abstract.
Phase 3 — Completion and communication (weeks 8–9 + final session)
Finishing a track, mixing it, and learning to articulate what it is and who it is for. The course ends with each student presenting their finished work and artistic statement to the group.
Both Ableton Live and Logic Pro versions run simultaneously — the technical content is DAW-specific, the artistic and group content is shared.
Who is leading it.
I have spent the last few years co-running Wildflower — a series of workshops and residencies with Tom Misch, with guest artists including Jordan Rakei, Laura Misch, and Universal Music Publishing A&R Pete Simmons. In that time I have worked closely with a lot of producers at very different stages.
The question that comes up more than any other is not about technique or gear or songwriting. It is this: how do I make music that actually sounds like me?
That question is what this course is built around.
I hold an MA with Distinction in Music Production and work as a mix and mastering engineer alongside my mentoring practice. I have also recently launched my new artistic project @alifeinspace. I combine my technical background with a genuine interest in helping producers find and develop their own voice — not someone else's formula.

Six. Groups are kept deliberately small so there is space for real conversation and personal feedback in every session.
-
Either Ableton Live or Logic Pro. Both versions of the course run simultaneously — you will be placed in a group with other producers using the same DAW.
-
One live group call of 90–120 minutes per week, plus an async exercise or listening task that typically takes 30–60 minutes. The course is designed to be manageable alongside other commitments.
-
The course is open to producers at all levels. What matters more than technical ability is seriousness of intent — you should be making music regularly and be ready to engage honestly with your own work and with others in the group.
-
Life happens. Sessions are not recorded by default, but if you need to miss one let me know in advance and I will make sure you are caught up before the next week.
-
Payment is requested once your application has been reviewed and your place confirmed. The full course fee is £400.
-
If you need to withdraw before the course starts, I will refund your payment in full. Once the course has begun, fees are non-refundable — but please get in touch if your circumstances change and we will find a solution.
